This roundtable discussion is an opportunity for the representatives from South Africa who have attended various G20 outreach activities over the last year to get together in a closed session with government officials who will be representing South Africa at the G20 Summit. These representatives from various stakeholder groups will reflect on their experiences with the G20 outreach programmes and outline the key issues discussed in each forum. This will then be followed by a discussion where the various issues will be unpacked. The discussion is also intended to provide participants with an opportunity to discuss what South Africa’s position should or could be on these issues.
To facilitate a frank dialogue, this meeting will take place under the Chatham House rule, a morally binding convention which allows all or part of a meeting to be held ‘off the record’. In addition ‘Information gleaned under the Chatham House Rule may be reported [if so agreed], but the identity or affiliations of speakers must not be disclosed.’
